The promotion of healthier and independent living at home improves the quality of life of end users and the quality of the services provided, while reducing operational costs. The addition of reasoning to the data collected from smart sensors (medical and environmental) is the key differentiation strategy of Intellicare. Intellicare is a spinoff is ISA Intelligent Sensing Anywhere, a company with 25+ years’ experience in telemetry in oil & gas, water, energy, environmental parameters among others. Intellicare targets the silver economy market in the niche of healthcare and ambient assisted living environments.
The keynote addresses key issues related to measurement, seamless data collection, big data, reasoning and quality attributes such as scalability, security, and data privacy. The talk will also address how technological, business and legal constraints affect which and how physiological and environmental parameters are measured and how data can be made available for end-users, formal and informal caregivers.
Biography: António Damasceno holds a Master of Science Degree in Informatics Engineering from the University of Coimbra and a Master of Software Engineering dual degree from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Coimbra. Damasceno is an accomplished software architect with over 20 years of experience in multiple domains, including local government, accounting and finance, travel, and operations control. Damasceno is currently the acting CEO of ISA Intellicare, a Coimbra-based venture in IT-enabled home healthcare. Previously, he has occupied a variety of leadership roles including project, product, and technological partnership management.
